Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, former nurse Cheryl Pepsii Riley (she mainly worked with disabled children) got her start in the music business with the help of Full Force. She reached the peak position of the charts in 1988 with the sensitive Thanks for my child' ballad. She was actually criticized for recording the song because people thought she was promoting single-parenthood. In her defence Riley stated that the song actually just tried to spread the message about every healthy born child. The success of this single resulted in the release of her first album Me, myself and I, from which 2 more singles were extracted. Cheryl continued to work with Full Force for her 1991 Chapter-album as well as the …All that-album from 1993 which is actually dedicated to her brother James Elroy who died of cancer at the age of 23. Cheryl also featured (uncredited) in the 2005 Diary of a mad black woman as a singer at a banquest and alongside Nicki Richards in Colorz of Rage from 1999. Cheryl Pepsii Riley is married to bass-player David Jones.
