Milira's career began at an early age while singing in the church. By age 11, she was doing studio sessions as a backup singer for various gospel groups. Her mother and aunt were members of the Wilsonettes, the backup singers for the legendary Jackie Wilson. Milira became convinced of her own talents when she first signed in the joint venture between Apollo Theatre Records and Motown Records. Jheryl Busby, then President/CEO of Motown Records called her "the 19-year old Sarah Vaughn" upon the release of her self-titled debut album in 1990. In 1992, she released her sophomore effort Back Again , both albums meeting with critical and commercial success. Milira makes her long awaited return with "SOLUTION " a gospel album on her own imprint, Arilim Records, Inc. |
