In 1995 West-Coast vocal trio MoKenStef, which consisted of Monifa, Kenya and Stephanie, was formed. These three girls from Los Angeles met already back in 1990 where they started out as hip hop dancers. At this time Stephanie and Kenya were cheerleaders at the same high school where Monica attended classes. They started working on their muscial career between college classes and 9 to 5 jobs. At the end of 1995 the first album Azz Iz was launched which featured the single Sex in the rain. The girls are known not only for their vocal talents but also for writing all the songs on the album. After the first album the girls went on to pursue some solo projects but deny splitting up.
