Ralph Tresvant, born May 16, 1968 in Roxbury, MA, was one of the original New Edition members. The band was discovered by Maurice Starr at a talent show which eventually led to their first record at Streetwise records in 1983. New Edition disbanded in 1990 and Ralph went on solo with his first self-titled album being released on the 27th of November of that same year. The album contained the No.1 r&b smash Sensitivity which remained on the charts for over 20 weeks. Ralph was also included in the line up of the Best things in life are free single, together with BBD, Janet Jackson and Luther Vandross. His second album, entitled It's going down, didn't do as well as the first. There was a short lived New Edition-reunion in 1996. Ralph formed his own label called Rated R records. A little known fact about Ralph Tresvant is that he released a first solo album at the age of 16 which was never released. |
