Shabazz is a four-piece band that hails from New York and comprised of drummer Marc Poussaint, guitarist Dennis Brown, vocalist Paul Stewart and keyboardist Wesley Walker. They started out recording for the NY-based Coslit label on which they released Takes me higher (1987), Glad you're in my life and Respect (both 1989). They shortly moved to RCA records in 1990 but soon faded into obscurity. In 2001 a new Shabazz album entitled Better day was released with two of the original bandmembers, Wesley Walker and Dennis Brown, in the line-up.
