Tara Kemps' career ended before it even got a fair chance to grow. It was through her mutual connections with Giant Records and Big Beat records that she got her first record deal in 1990. Former KMEL-jock Hosh Gureli introduced her first single, Hold Tight, to the San Francisco area with immediate success. The follow-up single Piece of my heart did almost as well but with a third single release from the album, Too much, numbers began to drop. Tara left Giant Records for Nerve records in 1992 where she released a second Come together in 1994. The album as well as the title- track released as a single failed to lived up to it's expectations. Billboard magazine once described Tara Kemp as an artist with the mass appeal of Paula Abdul but with a voice more competent.
