The Black Flames (a group of 3 hardcore rappers from Cleveland, OH) is a late-'80s vocal group that took a then-novel approach.They combined hip-hop fashion with a sweet sound that took its inspiration from '70s groups as The Chi-Lites or The Stylistics. They also turned a cover of Are you my woman by The Chi-Lites into a hit. Their approach to music really started to take of by early '90s groups like Another Bad Creation and the more familiar sounds of Boyz II Men.
