Tyler Collins was born in Harlem, New York City, NY but grew up in Detroit where she started dance lessons at the age of seven. After relocating to Los Angeles she played the theater and appeared in musicals and dramas. Her career as a solo singer didn't start until 1989 because from 1987 to 1989 she first became a member of a group called The boys next door. After these two years she debuted with her first solo album Girls nite out from which the same titled first single proved to be a major club hit. In 1991 she returned to acting and appeared in the film A Rage in Harlem. 1992 brought the release of the second album entitled Tyler. Last musical outing known to date is the 1994 theme song from a film called Andre.
