U.N.V. is an abbreviation of Universal Nubian Voices. The group comprised of Shawn Powe, John Powe, Demetrius Peete and John Clay and was formed in 1991, Lansing, Michigan. Around that time a lot of similar bands like Intro, Jade & Shai, appeared on the r&b scene. The four-some started writing songs and rehearsing and eventually went to Detroit to record. After Something's goin' on received airplay on local stations the band landed it's first record deal with Maverick records. Their first album was released in 1993. A second self-titled album followed two years later and was the bands' last musical outing known to date.
